It provides a single API, allowing you to build games on Linux and Windows without having to change a single line of your game code. Gel2D uses OpenGL for its rendering, which means the graphics will be hardware accelerated if your hardware/drivers supports it.
Gel2D is not geared towards any specific game genre, so is theoretically capable of creating any possible multimedia application.
With Gel2d, it is easy to build self-contained executables that depend on only a few low-level and/or system-specific shared libraries, making it a cinch to deploy your game on most Linux distributions without requiring the installation of any additional libraries on the host's computer.
The Gel2D SDK provides a set of tools to ease game development, allowing you to dynamically create description/resource files for particle systems, bitmap fonts, and other game resources, which can be loaded by the engine at runtime, removing the need for a load of tedious coding.
